Born in Nassau, Bahamas, Master Gunnery Sergeant Johnson graduated from Miami Norland Senior High School in Miami, FL in June of 1998. He then attended Lane College in Jackson TN, where he also played football.
Master Gunnery Sergeant Johnson joined the Marine Corps as an administrator on April 28, 1999. After completing boot camp and formal schools, Private Johnson was attached to 2D Battalion 6th Marines as Golf company clerk. Within 2 months of Private Johnson joining 2/6 he was deployed on the 24th MEU where he was able to participate in NATO operations. After completing the 24th MEU, Private First Class Johnson was transferred to Second Marine Division Personnel Administration Center where he was one of the first set of Marines to establish a Personnel Admin Center.
In January of 2003 Corporal Johnson became part of MAG 42 4TH-MAW in Atlanta, GA. During his time with MAG 42, Sergeant Johnson was temporarily transferred to Marine Corps Central Command in Tampa, FL in support of OIF/OEF.
Sergeant Johnson was then transferred to IPAC Inbound at MCAS Miramar in March 2006 as the NCOIC for the inbound section. During his time in the inbound section, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant and took over as the SNCOIC for the section where he supervised the join process, welcome aboard brief, and new join tour of the city. This process entailed coordinating with military units and outside agencies.
After his time at MCAS Miramar in August of 2008 SSgt Johnson attended Marine Corps Recruiter School and was then transferred to Recruiting Station Orlando. After 1 year as a recruiter SSgt Johnson was selected to run his own station in Kissimmee FL. Staff Sergeant Johnson was responsible for a demanding recruiting mission with his team of 4 recruiters and 2 recruiting offices. While at Recruiting Sub-Station Kissimmee, Gunnery Sergeant Johnson also received his Associates Degree in Liberal Arts.
In June of 2012 Gunnery Sergeant Johnson was then transferred to Okinawa, Japan to take over as the SNCOIC of IPAC Inbound 2nd Stage section. After one year at IPAC, Gunnery Sergeant Johnson was selected to take over as Marine Corps Base Camp Foster Company B Company Gunnery Sergeant.
In March 2013 Gunnery Sergeant Johnson joined Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 172 in Okinawa; Japan as the S-1 SNCOIC. During his time at MWSS 172, Gunnery Sergeant Johnson deployed to Korea and held the billet as senior Enlisted Advisor for 1st Marine Aircraft Wing and liaison for all enlisted matters between the airman of Kunsan Air Force Base Korea and all Marines. After his time in Korea, Gunnery Sergeant Johnson returned to MWSS 172 in Okinawa to serve as the Adjutant in addition to S-1 SNCOIC.
In July 2014 Gunnery Sergeant Johnson was transferred to Headquarters Marine Corps Plans, Policies, and Operations as Operation Division as the Administrative SNCOIC that required management the division travel budget and government credit card system.
After four years of filling the position as the administrative advisor for multiple general officers Master Sergeant Johnson was transferred to fill a joint assignment with USMEPCOM 11th BN Saint Louis MO. While at United States Military Entrance Processing Command Master Sergeant Johnson held the billet as the Bn Senior Enlisted Advisor for the whole central Midwest.
Once Master Sergeant completed his tour in Saint Louis he was then transferred to Headquarters and Service Battalion Headquarters Marine Corps, Henderson Hall, as the S-1 Staff Non-Commissioned Officer.
In August of 2022 Master Gunnery Sergeant Johnson was transferred to Installation Personnel Administration Center (IPAC) Marine Forces Reserve (MFR) in New Orleans LA to serve as the IPAC SNCOIC Where he managed over 150 Marines and civilians that serviced active and reserve Marines assigned to multiple units across the globe including MFR, four Marine support Commands and Headquarters Battalion. Master Gunnery Sergeant was transferred to the Office of the Inspector General of the Marine Corps May 2023 as the Senior Enlisted Advisor, Inspection Division.
