Chief Warrant Officer 5 Gilmore is a native of Montgomery, Alabama. He graduated from Prattville High School, Prattville, Alabama, in May 2002 and departed for recruit training in June 2002. He attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD), Parris Island, South Carolina. He graduated in September 2002 from Company I, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion as a private first class.
Private First Class Gilmore received Marine Combat Training at the School of Infantry, Camp Geiger, North Carolina, from October to November 2002. He transferred to the Personnel Administration School to attend the Administrative Clerks Course at Camp Johnson, North Carolina, in November 2002. He was meritoriously promoted to lance corporal on November 2, 2002, and also served as a class leader during this period.
During January 2003, Lance Corporal Gilmore transferred to the Promotions Branch, Headquarters, United States Marine Corps, Marine Corps Base (MCB), Quantico, Virginia, for duty as an officer promotions board clerk from January to April 2003. He was reassigned to the Officer Assignments Branch, where he served as an administrative/unit diary clerk and assistant monitor for the company grade infantry officer and nuclear, biological, and chemical officer populations. He was meritoriously promoted to corporal on September 2, 2003. Corporal Gilmore was recognized as the 2004 Marine Corps Combat Development Command/MCB Quantico Noncommissioned Officer of the Year. He was meritoriously promoted to sergeant on May 2, 2005. During this period, he attended the Corporals and Sergeants Courses. Sergeant Gilmore received his Associate in Science in General Studies from Northern Virginia Community College in May 2005.
Sergeant Gilmore transferred to the Consolidated Personnel Administration Center, Marine Aircraft Group 39, Marine Corps Air Station, Camp Pendleton, California, where he served as the assistant inbounds personnel chief from January to July 2006. During July 2006, Sergeant Gilmore was reassigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 369 for duty as the administrative chief. He deployed to Al Taqaddum, Al Anbar Province, Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from March to October 2007.
In April 2008, Sergeant Gilmore reported to Drill Instructor School, MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina, for training. He was promoted to staff sergeant on July 1, 2008. Upon graduation, Staff Sergeant Gilmore was assigned to Company E, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion where he served as a drill instructor, senior drill instructor, and battalion operations chief from August 2008 to January 2011. During this period, Staff Sergeant Gilmore attended the Staff Noncommissioned Officer Career Course and the Advanced Personnel Administration Course. Staff Sergeant Gilmore was recognized as a distinguished graduate of the Career Course and the honor graduate of the Advanced Personnel Administration Course. He received his Bachelor of Science in Management/Computer Information Systems from Park University in December 2010.
He was appointed to warrant officer on February 1, 2011. Warrant Officer Gilmore attended the Warrant Officer Basic Course from January to May 2011. He later attended the Personnel Officer Course from June to July 2011. Warrant Officer Gilmore received orders to the Installation Personnel Administration Center, MCB Camp Pendleton, California, where he was assigned as a personnel officer for the Inbounds Branch in July 2011. He was promoted to chief warrant officer two on August 1, 2012. During June 2013, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Gilmore was reassigned to the Customer Service Branch, where he served as the 43 Area Remote, Officer in Charge. Chief Warrant Officer 2 Gilmore received his Master of Business Administration from Park University in December 2013. He completed the Expeditionary Warfare School (Distance Education Program) in May 2014.
Chief Warrant Officer 2 Gilmore transferred to 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California, in June 2014, where he assumed his duties as the regimental personnel officer. During 2014, he completed the Legal Officer and Manpower Officer Courses. He was promoted to chief warrant officer three on August 1, 2015. Chief Warrant Officer 3 Gilmore served as the Manpower Officer, Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force-Crisis Response-Central Command 17.1 and deployed to Al Jaber Air Base, Kuwait, in support of Operation Inherent Resolve from December 2016 to August 2017. Upon redeployment, he resumed his duties as the regimental personnel officer. In May 2018, he received his Master of Arts in Leadership Studies from Marshall University and completed the Command and Staff College (Distance Education Program).
In June 2018, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Gilmore transferred to Marine Corps Engineer School, Training Command, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was promoted to his current rank on May 1, 2020. During January 2021, he reported to the Office of the Inspector General of the Marine Corps, Naval Support Facility Arlington, Virginia, where he assumed his current duties as the director of administrative support. During December 2022, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Gilmore received his Doctor of Philosophy in Leadership Studies degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
